Oppo Reno 2F

Oppo Reno 2F was launched as part of the Reno 2 series. It comes with a shark-fin module that houses the selfie camera, earpiece, and secondary microphone.it packs a quad-camera setup at the rear and has been powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G Soc CPU. The device has a 6.5-inch full HD+AMOLED display that does not contain a notch. There is also an in-display fingerprint scanner that is quick to scan and unlocks the smartphone at once. It has great viewing angles and is bright enough when viewed outdoors.

The storage space for the device is 8GB RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. The storage can be further expanded with a microSD card. The camera setup contains a 48MP central sensor with a 20x digital zoom,13MP telephoto camera,8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. There is a 4000mAh battery that has a 20W charger while the phone runs ColorOS which sits on top of Android 9 Pie.

DESIGN

Oppo Reno 2F is able to stand out with its shark fin pop up camera module. The front has a 6.5 inch AMOLED display and comes with thin bezels around it. The shark fin module plays host to the selfie camera and also houses the earpiece and secondary microphone. The frame has a thin grille that is found at the top and also allows sound to pass from the earpiece. The phone comes in two colors: Luminous Black and Ocean Blue. The Ocean Blue has a gradient finish that makes it appear sleek while the Black has a blue highlight around the edges.

The power button is positioned at the right while the volume rockers are on the left. Both buttons are easy to reach and provide good tactile feedback while being easy to reach. The SIM tray has been set at the right just above the power button. At the bottom, one can spot the 3.5 mm headphone jack, loudspeaker, USB Type-C port, and primary microphone. With a dimension of 160mmx74.3mmx9.5mm and a weight of 189 grams, the phone does not feel bulky and has a premium feel due to its glass back and metal frame.

Similarly to Oppo Reno 2Z, the back has a quad-camera module and a slight nub that sits at the back thus raising the phone slightly. The dual-LED flash also sits next to the cameras. The device has a glass back but comes with a case that helps you to avoid smudges. It also comes with a 20W VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 charger and a pair of headphones.

DISPLAY

There is a 6.5 inch AMOLED display that has been used on the Reno 2 and looks good. A lot of the display dwells on the sheer interrupted canvas that is offered due to the all-screen design and is uninterrupted with a notch or cutout. It has a 20:9 aspect ratio and makes it to be very comfortable while holding. Through the display, text, and icons can look sharp and measure a peak brightness of 475 nits. It can be equally used in brightness or outdoor use without a hindrance.

PERFORMANCE AND SOFTWARE

Unlike the One Plus 7T, Oppo Reno 2 does not come with a Snapdragon 885 processor. Instead, it comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G that can also be spotted in the Realme XT 730G. The processor is based on an 8nm manufacturing process while being gaming-centric and Snapdragon Elite gaming features which give it an edge during gaming.

Gaming duties are being handled by the Adreno 618 GPU.

The software is similar to that found in Oppo Reno 2Z and runs ColorOS 6.1 that sits on top of Android 9 Pie. The bloatware found on the device is also similar to that found in Reno 2Z. The bloatware that comes intact includes Amazon, UC Browser, Facebook, etc.

CAMERA

Reno Series features camera-centric features while also coming with good hardware. There is a quad-camera found at the back which consists of a 48MP central camera. It comes with a 20x digital zoom and has optical and electronic image stabilization. There is also an 8MP Ultrawide angle camera and a 13MP telephoto camera. The fourth sensor comes with a 2MP depth sensor.

The camera app is identical to that of Reno 2Z and introduces new features such as Sound Focus that is also found on Galaxy Note 10. The options that one can choose from include: Sound Focus audio effect, 3D recorder, and Standard. The photos that are taken with the phone have good detail and can meter light properly. The option of zooming to the image will reveal well-preserved details that will be similar to that seen using the wide-angle sensor. The camera app has shortcuts for 2x and 5x zoom which is used by the telephoto camera. There is also a 20x digital zoom.

BATTERY AND STORAGE

The battery found in Oppo Reno 2 sets standards for the Reno 2 series with a 4000mAh battery and is similar to that found in Xiaomi Redmi Note 4. The battery supports VOOC Flash Charge 3.0 and allows users to enjoy endless hours of live streaming, gaming, and watching videos throughout the day.

With a storage space of 8GB RAM that is similar to S10, the device also comes packed with 256GB ROM that provides maximum storage space for users to store their files without needing deleting videos to create more space.

BIOMETRICS

One will be able to access the Facial Recognition and Fingerprint sensor with the Oppo Reno 2. Both systems work swiftly and open up instantly while protecting the user’s security. Using the biometric users will be able to lock their private files and ensure there is no unwanted access.

CONNECTIVITY

The connectivity options that are found intact include: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth v5.0. The sensors that come along include the Gyro sensor, Barometer, Accelerometer, and in-display fingerprint sensor.
