Oppo A12

Oppo A12 was launched in April 2020 and has a 6.22-inch touchscreen display as well as a resolution of 720×150 pixels. It is powered with an Octa-core MediaTek Helio P35 processor and has 3GB RAM. Oppo A12 runs on Android 9 and is powered by a 4230mAh non-removable battery.

In terms of the camera, there is a 13MP primary camera that has an f/2.2 aperture and 1.12um pixel size, there is a second 2MP camera /2.4 aperture. The rear camera has autofocus while the front side has a 5MP, f/2.4 aperture that is used for selfies.

The device runs ColorOS 6.1.2 and is based on Android 9 while packing 32GB of inbuilt storage that can further be expanded with a 256GB micro SD card. It is dual SIM(GSM and GSM) but further accepts Nano-SIM and Nano-SIM cards. It measures 155.90×75.50×8.30mm while weighing 165.00 grams. It came in the shades of Black and Blue and also having a polycarbonate body.

The connectivity options on Oppo A12 are: Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v5.00,GPS,3G and 4G. The available sensors are: gyroscope, fingerprint sensor, proximity sensor, ambient light sensor, and magnetometer

DESIGN

Oppo A12 captivates you immediately you get the first glance of it. Its eye-catching display features a 6.22-inch waterdrop screen and a 3D Diamond Blaze design. The dewdrop style notch that is found at the top hosts a front camera that is surrounded by thick bezels.

The front look is similar to Oppo A5s but it has a diamond cut edge design that sets it apart from other devices within its segment. The rear part has been made of plastic but still maintains its sleekness. There is a dual camera that is aligned horizontally and has a LED flash and fingerprint sensor at the back. The sensor is accurate and responds actively upon being triggered.

There are a SIM tray and volume buttons that are positioned at the left. On the other hand, the right side of the smartphone has the power button which can be accessed easily. The bottom of Oppo A12 has a loudspeaker grille,3.5mm headphone jack, and a Micro –USB port.

The top of the device is bare while the SIM tray sits at the left and accepts dual Nano-SIM slots. The dimensions of Oppo A12 are 155.90×75.50×8.30mm while its weight is 165.00 grams. It comes in two colors: Blue and Black.

DISPLAY

Users will enjoy the Multitouch Capacitive 6.22-inch screen that comes with Oppo A12 and has a resolution of 720 by 1520 pixels which is close to that seen in Oppo A52. The HD+IPS display also enjoys the protection of Gorilla Glass 3 and features up to 16 million colors.

Its panel does not disappoint under direct sunlight as well as indoors. It will give you a memorable experience during watching movies, playing games, and live streaming. The most unique feature about the display is that the screen has Eye protection through a blue light shield thus your eyes will not get any strains even after using for long hours.

CAMERA

Take quality shots with the dual rear camera that comes with Oppo A12. The device has a 13MP rear camera that is identical to that found in Oppo A5. There is also a 2MP secondary sensor that can capture the depth in shots. The 13MP main camera captures details while giving you crisp and clear photos.

On the other hand, the 2MP depth lens can achieve Bokeh blurring to turn your portraits to look professional. The 8Mp front camera comes with AI Beautification that detects your sin type and applies a custom solution. As one of the features that come with this device, the Portrait Bokeh mode has a natural-looking Bokeh mode that highlights a specific object in place.

Other features that come with Oppo A12 and were also seen on Oppo A5S are Portrait and Pano modes that come alongside the standard photo and video modes. Photo mode has quick toggles for Flash, HDR, filters, and timers while there is also a button for 2xdigital zoom.

The camera set up can meter light correctly and has the right exposure levels. The device is quick to focus as it shoots macro and also provides decent separation between subjects and their backgrounds.

PERFORMANCE

Oppo A12 has been powered by Media Tek Helio P35 Soc octa-core processor which was also spotted on Oppo A5S and is equivalent to Qualcomm Snapdragon 665. The processor works fine and has an admirable performance. It can support high Graphics games such as PUBG and GTA San Andreas without lagging.

Even while playing games for long hours phone does not heat up making the gaming experience to be thrilling. The processor is also able to hand multitasking while having a GPU: IMG GE8320 that controls the graphics of the entire phone.

Oppo A12 runs on the same software as Oppo a5 which is Color0S5.2 that sits on top of Android 8.1Oreo. There UI has bloatware and pre-installed apps such as Facebook and Opera.

The apps can however be uninstalled to create space. The UI’s appearance can be changed through downloading themes. Also found on the device are gestures that allow you to draw alphabets on the screen while the phone is on standby mode.

BATTERY AND STORAGE

The 4230 mAh battery will keep you consumed through the day and is one of the keynote features of the phone. It allows simultaneous multitasking without fast battery drainage and can support video watching for up to 8 hours . on the other hand, the storage space for Oppo A12 stands at 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage thus allowing you to store all of your favorite content.

SECURITY

Similar to other Oppo phones such as Reno 2 and Oppo A9, Oppo A12 also comes with a fingerprint sensor that is used for authentication. The fingerprint is positioned at the rear and instantly unlocks the device in 0.34 seconds.
